Tobermory Thrift Shop Expands Its Storage

Driving up Highway 6, just on the edge of town, you might have seen some activity at the site of the Tobermory Thrift Shop. The Thrift Shop was blessed with a great number of good quality donations this year, and not all of them sold. Though most excess stock is delivered to programs in other communities once the Thrift Shop closes, Tobermory United Church Council has decided to purchase a sea container to install on the Thrift Shop site in order to store some items over the winter and for extra sales space in the summer.  The Thrift Shop saw record sales this past season, with over $40,000.00 raised in support of Tobermory United Church and the Tobermory Community Outreach Fund. Tobermory United is humbled and grateful for all the donations received and the volunteers who give of their time in this win-win-win endeavour.

Please mark Nov. 29 on your calendar for the annual St. Nicholas Bazaar, which will be held from 10 to 2 at the Tobermory Community Centre. The bazaar is a labour of love that features the rustic creations of Northern Twisted Roots, over 20 craft vendors, an epic bake table, a coffee bar, lunch of homemade soup and biscuits and a silent auction. It’s also a great way to connect with friends and neighbours in a fun and festive atmosphere!

On November 9, Tobermory United looks forward to hosting the other Tobermory churches and members of RCL Branch 290 Tobermory Legion in a Sunday Service of Remembrance at 10:30 a.m.This joint service is a long tradition in Tobermory.  A light luncheon of potluck finger foods will be served after the service.

On Nov. 16, we will welcome Brian Taylor and Bluesky Day as guest musicians for our service. The music that Brian, Brian and Arnie create and the good will and optimism they exude are always well received at Tobermory United!
