Many, many thanks to everyone who purchased tickets to the Spring Chicken BBQ and apologies to those who wanted dinners but weren’t able to get one because tickets were sold out. Next year, we’ll order more chickens! Thanks also to the many volunteers -- the bakers, ticket sellers, coleslaw makers, traffic directors, delivery drivers, and others – who make the BBQ not only an efficient operation, but a lot of fun! Special thanks also go to residents of Lion’s Head – 150 of them – who purchased tickets that were delivered hot and ready by Peninsula Parcel. Tobermory United is also grateful to Peacock’s Foodland, the Hungry Hiker and others for their support. The next Chicken BBQ will take place on August 1, the Saturday of the long holiday weekend. Tickets will go on sale soon!
The Tobermory Thrift Shop, an initiative of Tobermory United Church, has begun receiving donations! Donations are accepted Monday to Saturday (except Wednesday) from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Thrift Shop location at 7101 Highway 6. The Thrift Shop will open for sales on June 6, 1 to 4 p.m. every day except Wednesday and Sunday.
On June 14, the four Tobermory Churches – Tobermory United, St. Edmund’s Anglican, St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic and Light and Life Chapel -- will gather together for a joint service at 10:30 a.m. at Light and Life Chapel to celebrate Chi-cheemaun Sunday. The service will include rousing nautical hymns (“Will Your Anchor Hold”) and a blessing of the boats. Confirmation of special musical guests is awaiting. All are invited to gather for potluck finger foods following the service.
